(Automotive sector quality management systems)
For the purpose of continuous improvement of organizations associated with automobile parts, the prevention of nonconformance, and the reduction of scatter and waste, it is a quality management system standard in the automotive industry developed by the ISO and the Automotive Industry Task Force (IATF), which is comprised of world-class automobile manufacturers like GM and Ford, and applied to the automotive parts supply chain. IATF 16949 is based on ISO 9001 (Quality management systems) and includes additional requirements for quality management systems in the automotive industry.
