“Together Through Sharing.”
A company that enables beneficiaries to chart their own futures through education and sharing
Sharing promotion system
Hyosung identifies the actual needs of local communities, seeks out target individuals and listens to their feedback, and develops mid- to long-term strategies with NGOs and specialized organizations.
Hyosung does not settle for one-time assistance, but instead strives to be sustainable. We wish to realize a society in which beneficiaries can stand on their own two feet.
In addition, Hyosung strives to coexist with local communities by strengthening our business-related social contribution activities.
Chairman Hyun-joon Cho stated, "As an entrepreneur, I will focus on management and investment to contribute to the economic revitalization, as well as to fulfill my social responsibilities to provide practical assistance to my neighbors," demonstrating that Hyosung is fostering a culture of engaging in social contribution.
Top 3 themes
Hyosung conducts social contribution activities based on three themes: support for the vulnerable at home and abroad, support for culture and arts, and support for patriots and veterans.
Support for the vulnerable at home and abroad
The social contribution activities of Hyosung are a demonstration of the importance of collectively contributing to the creation of a happy society. Since 2013, the Hyosung Volunteer Corps has been operated through the voluntary participation of employees and executives, including Chairman Cho. In addition to domestic activities, such as support for rehabilitative treatment for children with disabilities and their families, support for education to promote employment of underprivileged women, support for job creation social enterprises, and local sharing activities for each business site, we also carry out activities abroad: the Hyosung Smile Expedition, a free medical treatment project in Vietnam; an overseas children's sponsorship project for employees in Vietnam; and health promotion and sanitary product support projects for girls in Rwanda, Africa.
Support for culture and arts
The purpose of sponsorship activities in the field of culture and arts is to provide opportunities for the underprivileged to enjoy art and to assist them in participating directly in artistic activities. Chairman Cho is the founding member and executive committee member of Arumjigi, a foundation devoted to the preservation of designated cultural heritage, reflecting Hyosung management's active interest and participation. The employees also participate in preserving Changdeokgung Palace, a cultural heritage. Our support activities include sponsoring artists with disabilities, sponsoring the Yo-Yo Ma & Silk Road Ensemble, holding classes for orchestras comprising musicians with disabilities, employees taking part in preserving cultural heritage, and sponsoring a theater company in Daehangno.
Support for patriots and veterans
Hyosung is engaged in a variety of activities for the nation, particularly in the realm of social contribution. Inheriting the founding spirit of former chairman Hong-je Cho, the top management and employees of Hyosung Group visit the Seoul National Cemetery to pay respect to the patriotic martyrs, clean up their graves, and visit the Memorial Tower, among other activities, as part of this founding spirit. In addition, we provide housing for veterans, sponsor visits to historical sites for men of national merit, hold commemorative events to comfort servicemembers wounded in North Korea's provocation of laying mines in the Korean Demilitarized Zone, and donate consolation items and money to the Gwanggaeto Unit of the Republic of Korea Army I Corps, with whom we have a sisterhood relationship.

Hyosung TNC and Hyosung Chemical hosted the "2020 Kimchi Sharing" event on November 25th at the Gumi Plant. Due to the prolonged economic recession caused by COVID-19 and the record-breaking rainy season, 2,000 heads of kimchi were donated in conjunction with the Gumi City Hall and the Community Chest of Korea in order to assist less fortunate neighbors in the region. From 2010 to 2019, approximately 100 employees at the Gumi Plant made and distributed kimchi to the local community. This year, however, as a result of COVID-19, the kimchi-making event was canceled in order to prevent the spread of the virus and maintain hygiene. Instead, the employees bought kimchi and delivered them to those in need. On this day, Gumi City Hall Welfare Policy Division Manager Dong-mun Choi attended the Gumi Plant's delivery ceremony and expressed gratitude on behalf of the Gumi City Hall for the Gumi Plant's social contribution activities.
